The group courses are designed to build and develop skill and confidence, to enable people to ski all terrains including Moguls, Steeps, Powder and how to Carve effectively. Skiers ability levels range from intermediate skiers wishing to get off of the typical intermediate plateau to skiers taking their instructors exams and performance training for competition (alpine racing or freeride). Skills are developed during the coaching by practicing specific exercises that benefit the main topics. Progressively, the new levels of skill are tested in suitable terrains to build confidence. During the group courses each skier is also looked at from an individual point of view due to the fact that we are all individuals and have different strengths and weaknesses that need identifying and developing.
Video analysis takes places 1 to 2 times during the course depending on weather conditions. Ski equipment is also looked at on the course to educate skiers on how to get more out of their kit and understand it in greater depth.
The course duration is 5 days, Sunday/Monday/Tuesday, Wednesday off and then Thursday/Friday. Coaching starts at 10am and finishes at 3pm. A lunch break is taken mid day.

These courses are run in the afternoon as this is an ideal time in terms of slope use. From 2 - 5pm the slope is quieter than normal and the quality of the skiing and coaching session will be high. Whilst this session is a group course the coaching will be tailored to the individual's needs and goals.

Who is it for
Skiers ability levels range from basic intermediate skiers wishing to get off the typical intermediate plateau and gain confidence, to skiers taking their instructors exams and performance training for competition (alpine racing or freeride).
Price:£129 per session (includes full day tuition fee, lift pass and equipment hire). These courses are run on Saturday and Sundays at the Chill Factor, Trafford Centre, Manchester. If booking both the Saturday and Sunday together a £20 discount of the total will be offered.
Summer 2008 - SAAS Fee, Switzerland
The summer courses in Saas Fee are a must for skiers who are looking to develop their skills on a regular basis and do not want to wait for the winter season. The Academy is committed to developing skiers into competent all mountain skiers and sees the summer courses as an integral part of this development. The advantages of summer skiing in Saas Fee are that the snow conditions are excellent due to the north facing glacier and the slopes are never crowded providing ideal conditions for quality coaching and enjoyable skiing.
The course content is exactly the same as the Winter courses except skiing is from 8 am to 1.30pm. Winter 10am to 3pm

Summer 2008 - Wanaka, New Zealand

The summer New Zealand Freeski + courses run from Monday to Friday with the weekends off. They are designed to build and develope skill and confidence, to enable people to ski all terrains including Moguls, Steeps, Variables, Powder and how to Carve effectively on piste. The main difference with this particular course is that the emphasis is more directed towards freeskiing and heli-skiing. The training will take place in the ski resort of Treblecone (www.treblecone.com) and Cardrona (www.cardrona.com) and the Heli-Skiing will be operated by Harris Mountains Heli-Ski (www.heliski.co.nz)

Private Coaching
Any member of the Ski Academy team can be hired out on a daily basis. This service is better suited for people requiring one to one coaching or wish to bring a group out to the Alps. Private coaching is available upon request throughout the year. A typical day is 5 hours and half day 2.5 hours.

GAP PROGRAM - VERBIER 2009 
The Warren Smith Ski Academy www.warrensmith-skiacademy.com , famous for it's level of excellence at training recreational skiers and ski instructors, is this year introducing it's first GAP year program in association is BASI www.basi.org.uk The program will run for nine weeks in the prestigious resort of Verbier and take the students up to BASI 3 ski instructor level. The course has been designed to develop the following aspects of the students skiing skills:

The course price of £6499 includes 1/2 board accommodation for 9 weeks at the Peak Ski www.peakski.co.uk, chalets in the centre of Verbier, A whole season lift pass in Verbier from November to April, Guaranteed Ski School placement in Verbier and paid work throughout the Easter period just after the course finishes, all BASI Trainee Instructor Course fees & Instructor Training Course fees (BASI 3), Ski School Training placement, BASI Manuals & Course Materials, Membership of BASI, a unique authored DVD of your whole GAP experience.
The course was due to be 10 weeks and priced at £7,200. However, Warren decided to make use of five of the Sundays during the nine week period and make up an extra week of coaching. Normally on most 10 week GAP courses you have Saturday and Sunday off. This enabled him to reduce the duration to nine weeks and bring the cost down to £6499 and at the same time keep the training content the same as a 10 week course. All students will still keep Saturdays off.
